The Trombino was my final year project in the Music Computing BSc at Goldsmiths University of London.

The Trombino was created to provide an interface which children could use to engage with a trombone like interface at a younger age. Often the trombone cannot be learned at a younger age as it requires a great deal of physical exertion but the Trombino was successfully use with children as young as 6.

Another success which came out of the Trombino project was the ability to gauge which register a player was trying to use when blowing through a mouthpiece by measuring the vibration of the air column within the mouthpiece. At this prototype stage two to three different registers could be detected. This is an area which could provide fruitful for investigation in the future.
